Lough Gur Visitor Centre

A short 20 minute drive from Limerick City Hotel, lies one of Ireland most important stone age settlements. Lough Gur is a small horseshoe shaped lake south of Limerick city. The site was continuously occupied from the Neolithic period to late medieval times. There are dwellings dating back to 500 & 1000 AD. There is a wedge tomb dating back to 2500 BC. Also there is the Grange Stone Circle, the largest and most remarkable of its kind in Ireland. There's free access to the lake, shores and pleasant parkland, which is perfect for picnics. The visitors centre also offers an audiovisual presentation.

Cratloe Woods

Overlooking Limerick City, and a short drive from The Limerick City Hotel, Cratloe Woods is a beautiful a forested area around the village of Cratloe in County Clare, Ireland. 

 

King John's Castle

The Limerick City Hotel is in full view of King John's Castle is a 13th century Castle in the heart of medieval Limerick City. The Castle overlooks the majestic river Shannon. The Hunt Museum

The Hunt Museum is housed in the tastefully restored Old Custom House. This is the finest 18th-century building in Limerick. The facade is a reduced copy of the Petit Trianon at Versailles. Housed in the museum are some of the finest ancient, medieval and modern treasures found in Ireland. They include antiquities and art objects from Europe and Ireland. Ancient Irish metalwork, medieval bronzes, ivories, and enamels. There is a shop and a restaurant in the museum that make it a very enjoyable day out. Adare Heritage Centre

In the centre of the village is this great heritage centre, Adare Heritage Centre. It is housed in a stone building with a traditional courtyard. There is a short audiovisual presentation to help you make sense of the ruins scattered around the area. The model shows the village in 1500 and is really worth a look. Crescent Shopping Centre

5 minutes drive from Limerick City Hotel you can find the Crescent Shopping Centre. The Crescent Shopping Centre is the biggest and most successful shopping complex outside of Dublin. On Limerick’s Dooradoyle Road, the Crescent is just two miles from Limerick city centre. The shopping centre is easily accessible from the city by the local road network. The Limerick Southern Ring Road passes outside the shopping centre and provides access for customers from all surrounding areas including Shannon, Ennis, Tipperary and Cork.

The existing centre offers 37,000 m2 of retail space. Other facilities include restaurants, a 12 – screen cinema, a free standing McDonalds, banks, a crèche and 2,500 free parking spaces in surface and basement car parks. The complex also includes the offices of Limerick county council, and a public library.

Limerick Greyhound Stadium

Fancy an evening at the dogs? Just 1Km from The Limerick City Hotel you will find The new Limerick Greyhound Stadium opened in October 2010, and boasts world-class facilities. The stadium, which is a great edition to the sporting culture in Limerick, is open for Greyhound Racing every Friday and Saturday night. With excellent bars, a restaurant, fast-food and carvery and unrivalled viewing facilities, a visit to Limerick Greyhound Stadium is a must.
